Douglas A. Bernstein Legacy Summit Reception

As temperatures dropped and a biting wind swept through Storrs, the 2008 cohort of the Leadership Legacy Experience gathered on January 20th for the 2nd Annual Douglas A. Bernstein Leadership Legacy Summit Reception in the Student Union Gallery which included special guests President Michael and Virginia Hogan, Vice President of Student Affairs John and Marie Saddlemire and of course Doug (’85) and Melissa Bernstein. Before dinner, President Hogan commented on how pleased he was to be in the company of such outstanding student leaders, as well as how important the Legacy Experience is to UConn. Dr. Saddlemire introduced the 2008 Legacy Students and shared some of their personal achievements, interests, and even unusual experiences as young leaders. After dinner, Doug spoke of leadership and commitment, relating his own student leadership experiences while President of the Student Union Board of Governors (‘80’s) to his successful career in business. Many of the Legacy Students commented on how impressed and honored they were by the event and all of its guests, from the Bernsteins and President and Virginia Hogan, to the members of the selection committee and, of course, their mentors. Everyone enjoyed this exciting evening, and with the tone appropriately set, all are now looking forward to another successful year!
