The Leadership Legacy 2011 cohort arrived as individuals to the Doug Bernstein Kick-Off Retreat and concluded the weekend as a unified group. With over 2 feet of snow on the ground outside, the retreat was held on Sunday, January 16th at the Nathan Hale Inn, where students participated in activities that set the stage for the year to come and helped them form new relationships with the 14 members of the 2011 cohort. Faculty and alumni mentors joined the students in the afternoon and helped the students to begin their experience. Later the group walked together to the Student Union for the annual banquet where they were recognized formally for the first time. Throughout the weekend it was clear that the cohort connected, their enthusiasm and dedication were instantly evident in discussions and activities. The weekend finished with students donning their Legacy fleeces for the first time to take a group picture; everyone left excited for the adventures that will arise during their year-long journey together. |
