Leadership Legacy Experience - 2010 Cohort Nominations
The University of Connecticut is pleased to announce the acceptance of nominations for the 2010 cohort of its most prestigious leadership development program: the Leadership Legacy Experience. Faculty and staff are invited to nominate one or two of their most outstanding undergraduate student leaders!
The Leadership Legacy Experience is a year-long leadership enhancement program that is immersive, comprehensive, substantive, and builds on students’ legacies as leaders while helping them prepare for lives of commitment and contribution beyond graduation. Past experiences sponsored by Legacy have included special guest speakers, outdoor adventures; outreach/mentoring opportunities and much more!
Nomination Timeline (subject to change):
- Acceptance of Nominations will begin on September 28, 2009
- The Deadline for Nominations is October 23, 2009 at 5:00pm
- Nominees will be able to accept their nominations until October 30, 2009 at 5:00pm
- Finalists will be selected and notified by November 10, 2009
- Finalist interviews will be held on November 16-18, 2009
- On November 19, 2009 the 2010 Leadership Legacy Cohort will be selected

Nominate A Student (Other than Yourself)
NOTE: Nominations MUST be completed in one session. Accordingly, it is recommended that you obtain/prepare all the necessary information PRIOR to entering a nomination.
SUBMISSION DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 23, 2009 at 5:00 PM
- NOTE: Nominations must be accepted by the nominee for it to be eligible.
- Nominations by faculty and staff are strongly encouraged.
- Nominees will be notified, assigned a Nomination ID, and required to accept their nomination (NOMINATION ID REQUIRED).
REQUIRED INFORMATION for NOMINATIONS

Responses to the following questions (each limited to 300 words): NOTE: It is recommended that you prepare your responses to these questions in advance of submitting the nomination.
- In what ways/capacities have you worked with/are you familiar with this student’s leadership abilities and accomplishments?
- What qualities have this student exhibited that warrant consideration for becoming a Legacy Student? Please provide examples.

Self-Nominations
NOTE: Self Nominations MUST be completed in one session. Accordingly, it is recommended that you obtain/prepare all the necessary information PRIOR to entering your nomination material
SUBMISSION DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- The deadline for Self-Nominations is Friday, October 23, 2009 at 5:00 PM.
- You will receive confirmation of your self-nomination via email and assigned a Nomination ID.
- You are required to have one on-line Recommendation submitted by a University faculty/staff member. (NOMINATION ID REQUIRED) - Additional recommendations may be submitted.
- Letters of Recommendation are due Friday, October 30, 2009, at 5:00 PM
- Resumes will be included if
- It is received by Friday, October 30, 2009 at 5:00 PM
- It is in MS Word format.
- Note: Resumes should be emailed to STUDENTLEADERSHIP@UCONN.EDU with a subject line of: "[your last name], [your first name]-Legacy Resume"

- Describe a significant personal accomplishment of yours as a University of Connecticut student.
- Provide your definition of ‘Academic Commitment’ and give examples of how you demonstrate it.
- Describe a significant contribution you’ve made to the University community and/or communities beyond the University (family, work, town, etc.).
- State your personal definition of ‘leading with integrity’ and give examples of how you have demonstrated this definition through your actions as a University of Connecticut student.
- Describe how your participation in this program will enhance your leadership after graduation.
