Thomas J. Dodd Prize

On Monday October 5th, Legacy Students were privileged to take part in the awarding ceremonies of the Thomas J. Dodd Prize in International Justice & Human Rights. This award is given periodically to an individual or group that has demonstrated dedication to the advancement of global social justice and human rights. Legacy Students took part in an invitation-only reception with the 2009 recipients, The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an organization dedicated to the legal and physical protection of journalists internationally. The reception included an opportunity to meet and speak with Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd as well as Marianne Pearl, wife of Daniel Pearl - slain Wall Street Journal Reporter killed in Pakistan in 2002 - who accepted the award for CPJ. Following the reception, Legacy Students attended the presentation of the award to CPJ. Students agreed that being part of this experience was a powerful reminder global leadership in action.
