First Year Learning Communities

First-Year learning Communities (FYLCs) are small clusters of first-year residents who live, study, and learn together! First-Year Learning Communities focus on promoting residents´ connections to fellow students, promoting student/faculty contact by providing opportunities for meaningful interaction in and outside of the classroom, and create a supportive environment based on a mutual interest or academic major. (Learning Communities)

Students who participate in the Community Service FYLC will live in the same residence hall and be pre-enrolled in a one-credit First-Year Experience course (INTD 182). This seminar style class will focus on supporting your college transition and assist you to get engaged in service while at UConn. The Community Service FYLC is a collaboration of Community Outreach, First Year Programs, and the Department of Residential Life.
