Community Outreach Staff are committed to supporting students in fulfilling personal and career goals. Students can meet with a staff person to discuss community service opportunities, leadership positions, and career ideas within the public service sector…and everything in between! Federal Community Service Work-StudyThrough the federal work-study program, Community Outreach employs over 60 UConn students as coordinators, tutors, mentors, and drivers. Community Outreach works collaboratively with the Office of Student Financial Aid Services to develop community service work-study placements. Students may be placed in a Community Outreach semester-long program or at a local non-profit organization. Positions provide students an opportunity to earn their designated work-study allotment, gain valuable career-related & interest-related experience while delivering meaningful services to the community. All positions in our Semester Long Programs are available for work-study students. Please contact a program director to inquire about opportunities. If you are looking for additional work-study opportunities in not-for-profit settings, please utilize the Office of Student Financial Aid Services' online job search. TransportationCommunity Outreach understands the need for dependable transportation to community service sites. Community Outreach provides transportation for its programs participants whenever feasible. Participants may be asked to find their own method of transportation if necessary. The Individual Program Directors can advise you on what works best for their program. For sites close to campus, students may walk, ride a bike, or take the University Shuttle Bus. Students may also use the Willimantic City Bus for agencies located near the bus routes. |
