Student Activities BlogsMiguel AlmodovarMidterms and Homecoming (YAY YAY YAY)
My past two weeks have been run by midterms, I had three in one week and two in the next. I’ve been in the library until 2 almost every night and only recently I’ve had a bit of time to rest. It’s weird being in the library that late at night, it’s actually kind of spooky. At about 1:45am they flick the lights on and off to warn you it’s time to go. Well, last Wednesday I looked at the time and saw it was about 1:35am so I started to pack up and get out of the library not wanting to be there when the lights got flicked on and off. I got outside and looked back at the library as they flicked all the lights on and off in the whole building, it was quite a sight to see the entire library go dark all at once. Thankfully, as I’m writing this I am all done with my exams and it feels fantastic! I’ve had some time for physical activity during the past couple weeks. I’ve been going to the gym of course, but my friends and I joined the Intramural Flag Football League. We wanted to join the B league but it was full so we had to join the more competitive A league. Now, we’re not bad at football but these kids are really, really good, so we haven’t won a game but we did score one touchdown so that was fun. On another note, Homecoming is next week and we’re pretty much all set for everything. I’m on a team for the Giant Board Game on Wednesday so hopefully we’ll win. I have my eye on a new TV or maybe “Rock Band:, I’m not sure yet. I also want to enter the Fan of the Game Competition and see if I can get onto the field during the game. My friends want to do it too but we don’t have tickets to the game so if we didn’t win, we would be stuck outside the game painted blue and white for no reason. Other than that, I’m pumped for Daniel Tosh on Thursday and of course for Lipsync on Friday. It’s a very different perspective being the VP of Programming this year; I don’t really have an event that I’m working on for Homecoming but at the same time I feel like I have something invested in every event going on. Its cool to see the programmers putting on their events and having them go so well. I’m really quite proud of all of them; they’re doing a great job. In fact I just had one-on-one meetings with the programmers to check-up on how they’re doing half way through the semester and they all said that they thought the semester was going well and that they were felling good about next semester too. I also asked them their goals for next semester and if they follow through with them, next semester is going to be a lot of fun at UConn. In the next blog I’ll probably be back from NACA Regional in Hartford so I should have some fun stories! |
