Application Form FAQsWhy is there a three tier system that organizes all student organizations on campus? Acknowledging the variety of purposes, and the different levels of risks and financial responsibilities that student organizations may possess, the Department of Student Activities developed a three-tier categorization system to facilitate the development of specific training to support the needs of your organization. Your student organization will probably fall into the Tier I or II categories. Do I have to apply to be Tier I before I can apply to be Tier II? No. Simply decide which tier your organization wishes to belong to. The three tier system is in no way sequential. However, Tier I and II organizations may decide to switch their group’s tier at anytime. Once an organization is registered, there is a Student Organizations Information Change Form online that the COO of an organization may complete to notify the Involvement Office of the desire to change a group’s Tier. Please note that this form may be used to inform the Involvement Office of any other organization changes as well. Can I apply to be a Tier III Organization? These groups are not only recognized by the entire University but are also financially supported by student fees. They possess the following characteristics:
Is this the same form that I use to apply for USG funding? No. A student group may only apply for Undergraduate Student Government funding if it is registered as a Tier II organization. The USG office has a separate application for funding process. Find out more from the USG website. Does my student organization have to apply for a Student Activities Business Office account? Only after an organization is recognized by the Department of Student Activities as a Tier II registered organization, may a student group choose to setup an account with the business office. The business office offers other services to non-registered groups as well, so feel free to stop by the business office or check out their website to learn more. Submit Your Questions |
